Barrio Gotic
Barri Gotic is the central part of Barcelona city, and this is the area from where the city established and all the main buildings of the city are located here that were constructed long back like the Palau de la Generalitat, Palau Reial, Town hall and the Cathedral. Though the origin of Barcelona was in Roman times and the city went under lot of transformation during Middle Ages, traces of city's origin is still remained in the Barri Gotic. The Barri Gotic called the Gothic quarter in Catalan and Barrio Gotic in Castilian has the squared Roman wall remains which ca n be seen extending to and around the Sots-Tinent Navarro and Tapineria in the north, To the south is The Carrer de la Palla and Placa Nova and Avinguda de la Ctedral to the south. The quarter is not open to the traffic and only the taxis and the service vehicles are allowed. One visiting the Gotic Quarter will be observing the points of interest in the Roman era, and interesting points till 17 th century that continue through the Middle Ages, and also the interesting points till the 20 th century from 18 th century period wise. The all the ages have given the quarter great density and richness of the high artistic standards of past.
